Triaminic Children's Cough Patch Recalled
"A patch version of the Triaminic children's cough and cold medicine is being recalled by its manufacturer after some youngsters swallowed the product and suffered seizures.
There have been eight reports of accidental ingestion, including a case of a Canadian child with seizures, said Julie Masow, a spokeswoman for the Switzerland-based drug maker Novartis. Masow said more than 50 million patches had been sold in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Central America since they went on the market in 2000."

I am very sorry about what those children went through but I am 25 years old and I used the Triaminic cough patches more than my child did. I miss the cough patches so much that I have resorted to puting Vicks on gauze and taping it to my shirt. The great thing about the cough patches was it did not make a mess and you still breathed the vapors all night long. I think that some drug company needs to come out with an ADULT version of the cough patch. I hope that no adult would put it in their mouth? Maybe all Triaminic should have done is raise the age on the patches!!!!!
I was so upset when I found out that the Triaminic Vapor Patch had been recalled. I am 54 yrs old and I have found nothing that stops that cough at night like these patches. Please change the age limit on these and put them back on the market. I have 2 left and I guard them like they were gold. thank you
I used the last patch on my 5 year old daughter a few nights ago. I have been to every store in the area searching for them. Not one pharmacy told me they had been recalled. This was the best cough product I have ever seen. My daughter will not take medicine due to the bad taste. She did not mind the smell and actually requested the patch when she started to cough. Even at 5 she knows IT WORKS like nothing else. Please consider raising the minimum age to 5 or 6 and put them back on the market. I can't believe with the strong smell that even a 2 year old would put one in their mouth but by 5 or 6 they are old enough to understand that if they put it in their mouth they can become very sick. Please reconsider. We are desperate to have these back.
I just used the last patch on my grandson, and I, too, have been frantically searching for these patches. They truly are the BEST remedy for coughing. I went online just this morning to find out why I couldn't find them anymore, only to discover from reading the comments what the reason was. I am sorry that there were some children who ate the patch, however, kids do a lot of things they shouldn't do such as open car doors while in motion. Perhaps they should stop making cars.
I just found out that the Triaminic Vapor Patch had been recalled. I am so upset... It is the only thing that has worked on my daughters cough at night. I don't know what to do... Vicks vapor rub is so messy... Please bring back the patch...
If I would have known this, I would have bought out every drug stores supplies within 100 miles. There has never, ever, been a better product for coughing. Please, please please bring it back!!!
I agree with everyone else above ..... the Cough Patches WERE THE BEST THINGS ON THE MARKET!!!! My son has bad allergies and coughs quite profusey in the evening, and these were the only things that would help, not even prescription cough syrup stopped him from coughing. SO PLEASE CONSIDER PUTTING THEM BACK ON THE MARKET.
