New Warning for Severe Liver Damage With Ketek
The FDA recently required Ketek manufacturer Soventi Aventis to update their labels to indicate a rare but life threatening liver disorder associated with the drug. Ketek is an antibiotic most commonly used to treat chronic bronchitis, drug resistant bacterial infections, and pneumonia. The hepatotoxicity of the drug came to light through the FDA's mandatory and voluntary adverse event reporting system.
