J&J Recalls Benadryl, Motrin
Healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson announced yet another recall…this one involves four million cherry-and-grape flavored Children’s Benadryl allergy tablets and about 80,000 bottles of junior-strength Motrin caplets.
The company cited manufacturing problems as the reason behind the recall, but said that the medicines still work and are still safe for consumers to use. The recall is aimed at drugstores and suppliers.
J&J’s reputation has been questioned in the last year after product recalls involving tens of millions of bottles of Tylenol, Motrin, and other nonprescription drugs.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is investigating the company’s handling of a recall back in April that involved more than 40 types of children’s over-the-counter liquid medications and temporarily closed a manufacturing plant, as well as a separate incident involving Motrin tablets.
