Delay, Deny, Defend

CNN's Anderson Cooper recently performed an investigation into the insurance claims practices of America's largest insurers.  What did he find?  Not to our surprise: insurers put profits over people.  The investigation focused on way insurers like Allstate and State Farm actively reject claims made by those injured in automobile accidents.  The insurers make it their policy to employ the "three D's", Delay, Deny and Defend, for all cases not involving serious collisions.  With Allstate one must ask, are you in good hands?  Only if you are the upper brass of the company.

This is not a surprise to anyone who has had to deal with an insurance company to get just compensation for a personal injury.

The article is very timely, as there is currently a battle going on in New Jersey between the insurance carriers and the healthcare provider community. The carriers are attempting to slash payments for auto accident injuries, which would significantly impede victims access to proper heathcare, while further boosting their outrageous profits. The provider community has formed a grass roots group called the Alliance for Quality Care, www.afqcare.com, which has had some political success in stemming their relentless quest for profit. Thanks to CNN this issue has been brought to the public's attention, and it would be great to have the New Jersey conflict get some air time.
